Niwata Shigeyoshi (庭田重能)

Shigeyoshi NIWATA (July 12, 1782 – September 23, 1842) was a court noble of the late Edo period. He was the head of the Niwata family which originated from the Tosho family. He served as Juichii Sangi Dainagon (councilor and chief councilor of state at junior first rank). His father was Shigetsugu NIWATA; his mother was a daughter of Naganori TAKAKURA. His lawful wife was a daughter of Ietaka OINOMIKADO. Among his children, the first son Shigemoto NIWATA, the second son Takanaka ITSUTSUJI who was adopted into the Itsutsuji family, and a daughter Tsuguko NIWATA who served as Naishi no suke (handmaid) for Emperor Ninko and later as Joro-kamiza (high rank female housekeeper in the inner Edo-jo Castle), are known.
